The SOA Gateway exposes data and business logic in a simple, open and
secure fashion that requires no coding on the server side.
It Integrates with existing core databases and business logic assets in minutes instead of weeks or months. It allows programmers to focus on creating valuable business applications instead of spending countless hours trying to access the existing core assets.
Requirements to access COBOL from Ruby:
1. Ruby installed on your client system.
2. Java 1.5 or above installed on your client system.
(Java 1.5 is available here http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp)
3. The SOA Gateway Eclipse based Control Centre installed on your client system.
To download Eclipse with the SOA Gateway control centre installed click here.
4. The SOA Gateway server installed on the machine where your COBOL is running and TCP/IP connectivity to this machine. This can be done using the kit downloaded in the previous step.
If you have Ruby already available and you wish to try with existing sample services without fulfilling requirements 2,
3 and 4 at this time, you will find some sample services to work with at the following locations: web services >>
Note these services may not be running against COBOL but will illustrate the principle based on the tutorial available from this page.
